Fausta Apambire, a lighthearted baker, chef, businesswoman, wife and mother, brings cross-cultural cuisines to the Reno community. From local farmers markets to the Sierra Nevada Lavender & Honey Festival, Apambire brings a flare of diversity through delicious baked goods among other eats.

Originally from Ghana, West Africa, Apambire relocated to Reno with her husband. Since then she has been able to raise her family and introduce her own blend of multicultural foods to the community. After prioritizing the care for her children, Apambire launched her MwintSoph Enterprises in 2014. Mwintsoph offers the community a variety of delectable savory and sweet treats such as, “huge cookies,” focaccia bread, honey and lavender baklava, tamales, “African style hibiscus tea-sobolo/bissap,” African stew, and so much more.

While the farmers markets and local events may be the best places to experience Mwintsoph, she also caters!

Visitors can select from a literal pile of pastries, and baked goods when visiting Apambire’s stall.

Nevertheless, the farmer’s market community has helped Apambire sustain Mwintsoph and expand her audience.

“The farmers market community has really been very wonderful,” she said.

Local customers have aided in Apambire’s personal growth as a cook.

“They’ve encouraged me, they buy my stuff, they tell you when you mess up,” she said. “They give it to you. They tell you, ‘Hey, this is where you went wrong,’ and I just improve upon it.”

What started out as an act of sharing culture through food by inviting people into her home, is becoming a local favorite at the farmer’s market. Small businesses like Mwinstoph are sure to bring a unique experience to Reno.
